“The Morning After” – All Episodes on Prime Video, 12 July 2024

THE MORNING AFTER takes viewers on an unforgettable journey when Nina wakes up on the shores of Camps Bay with no phone, money or clothes. A group of friends take her under their wing to help her get back on her feet. Can she turn her life around in sunny Cape Town?

All eight episodes of The Morning After drop on Prime Video on Friday 12th July 2024.

The series stars rising UK star Amara Okereke ( Red Rose, My Fair Lady) who was able to channel a lot of her inner Nina during filming in Cape Town. Amara’s magnetic charm quickly won over the local talents starring alongside her. Tarryn Wyngaard (Devil’s Peak, The Watch) flexes her emotional muscles as neurotic lawyer Cleo, who’s in an “it’s complicated” relationship with Gaosi Raditholo (Warrior, The River) drop dead gorgeous no nonsense model Mandisa, both struggling to come to grips with their identities. Carmen Pretorius (Lien se Lankstaanskoene, Table Manners) and Richard Gau (Prime, Aya) play the rich siblings at the heart of Nina’s Cape Town home, Michaela and Justin. While Michaela embraces her inner artist, Justin struggles to create his own business and carve out space for himself. Rounding off the gang are Danica Jones (Asinamali, Aya) as no nonsense camerawoman Pauline and Khaya Dladla (House of Zwide) as nightclub impresario Tarquin, possibly the two most adult of the characters in Nina’s world. And don’t forget to look out for Colin Moss (Warrior, Unseen) who plays a different type of Capetonian – Roland the estate agent, Michaela’s married boyfriend.

But of course, Nina’s come from somewhere, and the drama in this dramatic comedy series hits hardest when we meet Nina’s family – mother Clementine, played by Faniswa Yisa (Knuckle City, Dam) and sister Winnie, played by Masali Baduza (Bridgerton, The Woman King). The reason Nina came to Cape Town in the first place is her issues with alcohol, which continue to haunt her despite her new perspective on life 6000 miles away.

From the winelands to Bo Kaap to Clifton to Mitchells Plain, from yoga to drag stripperoke, kayaking to paragliding, The Morning After shows off Cape Town from many different angles. Rémy Jacquelin, President of Paradoxal and executive producer said: “This is a very special project which time has finally come for Paradoxal and Both Worlds, the second in our slate. It’s a fun, sexy and binge worthy comedy-drama with an amazing young cast set in stunningly beautiful Cape Town, and we can’t wait to share it with viewers from all around the world”

The series, created by Thierry Cassuto & Karen Jeynes (Recipes for Love and Murder), and directed by Cindy Lee (Desert Rose) and Jeynes premieres in sub-saharan Africa on Prime Video and will be shown in Germany on ARD1 and SVOD service Mediatek in March. International sales are handled by Federation Studios
